Marc Quaghebeur

Marc Quaghebeur STEP is a member of the Brussels bar specialising in legal and tax issues relating to holding companies and investment funds, real estate, and trusts in Belgium.

Marc holds a law degree from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (1984). He joined the Brussels Bar in 1984 and a further degree in tax law from the Fiscale Hogeschool (1985). Before joining Cabinet David, he was a lawyer and a tax partner in various national and international law firms specialising in international tax issues.

Marc focuses on international tax issues and cross border tax and investment and estate planning, … for overseas companies and individuals as well as on overseas tax issues for Belgian companies and residents. He has substantial experience in advising companies and entrepreneurs with a focus on corporate tax, in particular in a cross-border context.

He assists clients in all matters related to their operational activities and their holding and financing structures. His practice covers acquisitions and reorganisations, tax due diligence, fund structuring and management compensation.

Marc assists clients in tax audits and tax litigation matters. He pleads before all courts, including the Constitutional Court.

Publications

Marc is the Belgian correspondent for Tax Notes International and he has written the Belgian Chapter of IBFD’s International Guide to the Taxation of Trusts. He is also the author of the Belgian Chapter of European Cross-Border Estate Planning. He has been on the editorial board of Tijdschrift voor Fiscaal Recht and the EC Tax Journal for many years.

Marc wrote “Rest in Peace, A Guide to Wills and Inheritance Tax in Belgium” drawing from his experience in cross border estate planning.
