Belgium Extends Deadline for 2009 VAT Refund Applications
Belgian VAT authorities on October 13 issued a press release announcing the extension from September 30, 2009, to March 31, 2011, of the submission deadline for VAT refund requests for 2009 expenses.
The EU VAT refund directive1 introduced, as of January 1, 2010, a new procedure for claiming refunds of VAT paid on business expenses in another EU member state. Under the previous procedure, taxpayers had to send original invoices to all member states in which they incurred VAT in order to receive a refund.
